Description
This trail begins by crossing the bridge over the Rito del Padre at the north end of Beatty's Flats and then goes through a gate. It climbs steeply to the top of a bench above the Pecos River and then maintains a moderate grade, travelling through open grassy meadows, aspen groves and mixed conifer. The trail then turns sharply to the east, coinciding with Gascon Trail 239 for a half mile. After crossing Jarosa Creek, the Pecos Trail turns north toward the Santa Barbara Divide. The Gascon Trail continues east toward Pecos Falls.
