Description
Turn south on FR540 for 11.4 miles. Turn northeast onto FR201. Guadalupe Ridge Trail Road, FR201, is an extremely slow and rough driving experience; best completed on an ATV.
If you do not have an ATV, motorcycle, or high clearance 4-wheel drive vehicle, park at the intersection of FR540 and FR201 (end of graveled road) and hike.
Proceed for three miles (this will take hours in a vehicle) to the intersection of Lonesome Ridge Trail and T67. At this intersection, turn south following a fence line. The trail then makes a sharp left turn through a wire gate. Please keep this gate closed.
Continue on the trail for approximately two miles to the parking area. The trail becomes progressively more difficult after the parking area.
From the parking area, the Lonesome Ridge Trail is non-motorized and winds to the south for another three miles to the Guadalupe District boundary.
The trail continues for an additional two miles on BLM land as the Golden Stairway Trail ending at private land.
Do not continue onto private land without prior permission.
This trail is quite difficult, especially in the Golden Staircase area on BLM land and is recommended for experienced hikers only.
