Description
Popular campground in the Lake Roberts recreation area. Approximately 12 miles from the Wilderness Ranger Station. 12 units, $7.00 a night, no reservations,first come, first serve basis. Great for RV's and tents. Purgatory Chasm trailhead, 2.1 mile loop hike nearby. High occupancy during summer holidays. 3 vehicles per campsite, which includes the RV.

Lake Roberts General Store on north side of lake. Phone and lodging,(Lake Roberts Cabins) available. No fishing licenses available. Licenses available at Mimbres Store in Mimbres or Doc Campbells near the Gila Cliff Dwellings.
Tent sites available. Ponderosa Pine trees exist around campground area.
Can accomodate large (32'') travel trailers at several sites.
Nice trail to hike-Purgatory Trail across from Lake Roberts picnic area. For safety reasons, please stay out of the canyon during periods of heavy rain. Carry drinking water.
Great area for birdwatching and deer frequent the area. Javelina have also been seen in the area.
