Description
The Tadpole Ridge trail traverses 8.5 miles of mixed conifer forests at elevations of over 8500 feet. The trail is a popular route for hikers, equestrians and mountain bikers due to its proximity to Silver City and the fact that the trailhead is accessed by a paved road (NM Hwy, 15). The trail is maintained yearly, but old forest fires along the route continue to plague the trail with blowdown and erosion. It is recommended that visitors use a map when exploring this trail.
High elevations close to Silver City.
Stock users may want to take an axe or saw on the trip to cut out obstructions.
