Description
Mogollon is located in the Mogollon Mountains about 9 miles outside of Glenwood. The town itself is the remains of a mining community from New Mexico's heyday as a booming source for silver. Most of the town is still standing, and many of the abandoned mining implements still litter the half-mile stretch of main street. The main attraction of Mogollon is the Silver Creek Inn, a seasonal B&B and restaurant with the occasional town tour available.
Getting to Mogollon is almost as exciting as staying in the little town. Glenwood is about an hour's scenic drive north of Silver City on Highway 180. The nine mile drive up to Mogollon can be another hour long journey, depending on road conditions, as it is a one-lane road winding through high mountains.
