Description
Lower Gallinas campground is situated in a tight little canyon along New Mexico Highway 152. It is approximately 35 miles east of Silver City within the Black Range Mountains. The campground is easily accessible in most weather conditions, by most vehicles. The campground is a popular site due to its seclusion and beautiful vegetation.
Lower Gallinas is easily accessed by NM Hwy.152.

Additional Details
The area is prone to flooding during heavy seasonal rains. Also, dead wood for burning is scarce. Visitors should bring their own wood or charcoal.
A few general stores are located in the Mimbres Valley, approximately 15 miles west of the campground along NM Hwy 152. Food, phone, and gasoline are available.
Camping during busy weekends can be a little cramped in this area. Visitors can expect other campers nearby.
RVs are not recommended in this area due to limited turning spots.
Emory Pass Scenic Vista is located approximately 12 miles east of the campground and affords the visitor dramatic views of the middle Rio Grande Valley.
Lower Gallinas Campground is located along the Geronimo Trail Scenic Byway - a designated route that travels throughout southwestern New Mexico.
Wildlife abounds in this area of the Black Range. Visitors have the chance to see deer, elk, black bear, and many different species of birds.
