Basic Directions
This trail is an interior trail which connects the Vacas Trail with the Palomas and Perchas Trails. This trail can be accessed through the Vacas Trailhead or the Palomas Trailhead
Description
This trail ranges in elevation from 9,600 feet to 9,900 feet. The trail starts near the large meadow opening called Vallecito Damian (northeast of San Gregorio Reservoir) and ends at the junction of the Palomas and Perchas Trails. The Damian Trail is mostly through mixed conifer and aspen on the west half of trail, the trail passes through large open grassland areas mixed with small conifer stands. At about the half way point, the trail passes through the Rio Las Vacas. A large and steep hill exists on the west side of the Rio Las Vacas. This is the most difficult area of the entire trail.
