Lake area is a dry lake bed. You will see deer, turkey and smaller wildlife, birds, and a few wild- flowers. In autumn this is a popular spot with duck hunters. Short hikes are possible around the dam and beyond.

It is NOT possible to take a trailer up to the dam area. There are no turn arounds and no pull off areas.

At the switchback in Bear Canyon, a trailer can be pulled off the road and parked among the trees.
