Chama is a sleepy resort town located just a few miles from the Colorado Border and at the northern tip of the Jemez Mountains. Visitors to Chama are generally drawn to the area by its abundance of recreational options, including excellent fishing and hiking during the summer months and Nordic skiing and snowmobiling during the winter months.

Chama is best accessed by automobile on I-84 from Colorado to the North and from Santa Fe to the south. Accommodations in Chama are primarily lodge style and vary from moderate to expensive in price.
