Aztec Population: 7,000
Aztec, a small hamlet located along the banks of the Animas River, only 15 miles from the Colorado-New Mexico Border is the southern gateway town to the rocky mountains of southern Colorado. Visitors will find Aztec an excellent base for a number of adventures in the area, featuring both recreational opportunity and a historical glimpse into the past.

Farmington Population: 40,000
Farmington sits at an elevation of just over 5000 feet at the confluence of the San Juan, La Plata and Animas River systems. Known to the Navajo as Tahota, or 'amongst the rivers', Farmington serves as an excellent gateway town to the many recreational opportunities that the northwestern part of New Mexico has to offer.

Los Alamos Population: 12,000
Los Alamos, best known for the atomic research that occurred here during the 1940s, is still a hotbed of laboratory and scientific work but this 'atomic city' still has much to offer the outdoor recreationalist. Surrounded to the north and east by the Santa Fe National Forest and to the south by the Bandelier National Monument, Los Alamos is a lively community filled with active residents.

Taos Population: 5,000
Taos is a hotbed of recreational opportunity located in the heart of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains of northern New Mexico. A thriving and energetic outdoor minded community, Taos became home to the legendary mountain man Kit Carson and played host to a variety of wild west characters over the years. Today Taos is more quaint than wild, with a scenic downtown area studded with numerous galleries, museums, curio & kitsch shops.
