Description

Starting from the Cowles Trailhead information board, follow the path up the slope, crossing the paved road to Panchuela. At the first trail junction, bear right (north) and follow this mostly level path to Panchuela. Horses are not permitted at Panchuela but can use this trail to get to the Cave Creek Trail 288 and the Dockweiler Trail 259 from Cowles. Hikers headed for the same trails should follow the signs to Panchuela where there is a footbrige across the creek. Mountain bikers should end their trip at Panchuela since the trails enter the Wilderness beyond that point.
