Description

Bordo del Medio Trail 252 lies on the ridge that is bounded by the Rio Valdez on the west and the Rio Mora on the east. At the south end, the Bordo del Medio Trail starts at a junction with the Rociada Trail 250 in the riparian zone created by the Rio Mora, northeast of Mora Flats. It follows the river upstream for about a half mile and then turns sharply north in a small meadow. A fishing trail continues up the Rio Mora but the Bordo del Medio Trail climbs steeply up the hillside to the ridgetop. The trail can be difficult to follow in a meadow just near the top. Continue through the meadow to the junction with Bob Grounds Trail 270. From here the trail curves around to the east side of the ridge providing a good view toward the Eastern Divide. As the trail continues north up the ridgeline there are some sections where it becomes very narrow and brushy. About two miles up the ridge the hiker will encounter the main spring along the trail.

From here, the trail curves around to the eastside of the ridge providing a good view toward the Eastern Divide. As the trail continues north up the ridgeline, there are some sections where it becomes very narrow and brushy. About two miles up the ridge the hiker will find the main spring along the trail. Hikers and horsemen are encouraged not to camp in sight of the trail in order not to diturn the wildlife who depend on the spring.

The trail continues up the ridge alternating between small grassy meadows and conifer forests. The last mile of the trail crosses a large grassy meadow from which excellent views of the western range and the Eastern Divide can be seen. At the north end of the meadow, the trail enters conifer forest and finally intersects the Gascon Trail 239.
