Truth or Consequences Travel Information
Truth or Consequences (pop 6,200) may have one of the most odd names
of any New Mexico town, the origin of which only adds to the towns
mystique. Early in the 1950's, radio show host Ralph Edwards
challenged his many listeners around the United States to rename their
town Truth or Consequences in exchange for exposure to the radio
market audience. Residents of 'Hot Springs, NM' quickly voted to
change the town's name to Truth or Consequences and the rest is
history.
Visitors to Truth or Consequences will find the old
namesake of the town was a better description as there is a good
amount of geothermal hot spring activity here. Regardless, Truth or
Consequences or 'T or C' as the locals call it, is surrounded by
interesting activities and attractions that outdoor recreationalists
on vacation here will find enticing. Truth or Consequences is
located to the south of Albuquerque on I-25. The handful of
accommodations here are simple but get the job done and visitors
should have no problem finding some good homestyle cooking at any of
Truth or Consequences local restaurants. To learn more about Truth or
