Santa Fe - Horseback Riding

The mountains and plains that surround Santa Fe offer excellent opportunity for exploration by horseback. The Jemez and Sangre de Cristo Mountains are loaded with trail systems open to horse-packing and there are a number horse-packing of outfitters that visitors can utilize to access the backcountry, each offering a variety of adventures ranging from half-day to multi-day in length. Visitors should check with the Forest Service offices in Santa Fe for more information on specific trail systems available for horseback riding, as well as for a list of outfitters that are permitted on these lands.
