Description

The Grapevine Campground is named for an actual old grapevine that can see be seen today. Today there is a large chain around it to protect it. The East, West and Middle Forks of the Gila River come together in this campground. No reservations taken. All on a first come, first serve basis.

Visit the Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument and Visitor Center 5 1/2 miles north or visit www.nps.gov/gicl

Doc Campbells (general) store is about 2 miles north. Phone is available. Also, gas and hunting & fishing licenses.They have hot springs showers for $2.00 a person. And other grocery items including homemade ice cream.

Sandy ground. The Gila River flows through the campground with natural cliffs as a backdrop.

RVs over 20 ft not recommended. Steep downgrade road into campground.

The Grapevine-Middle Fork trail starts in the Grapevine Campground and into the Gila Wilderness. Several other trails are nearby

No horses are allowed in campground. But horses can be kept nearby at TJ Corral or Woody''s Corral closer to the Cliff Dwellings

Clinton P. Anderson overlook about 5 miles south. It offers one of the prettiest views of the Gila Wilderness.
