Clayton Travel Information

Motel 6 New Mexico
Clayton

Clayton (pop 2,500) is a small town located in the heart of 'dinosaur country'. Millions of years ago this area was a hotbed for dinosaur life and dinosaur remains and footprints are a modern reminder of who dominated the food chain here long ago. Visitors to the Clayton area will find several excellent areas for recreational opportunity just outside town, with an interesting geological and paleontological twist.

Clayton is small and has limited accommodations, though what is available is clean and affordable. Dining in Clayton is also rather limited, but the restaurants here offer filling American and New Mexican cuisine that is sure to please.
