Within the Glenwood District runs the Bursum Road (HWY 159), a primitive scenic byway that passes through the historic mining town of Mogollon and is the major access to a range of recreational opportunities. From wilderness and non-wilderness trail heads, to camping and fishing in peaceful mixed conifer settings, to simply driving through the wonderful scenery, a visitor to the Gila National Forest will be fully rewarded. Bursum Road is closed during winter months.
