Grants Population: 9,000
  Grants, located along the I-40 corridor of northwestern New Mexico, was founded upon Uranium mining and now serves as an excellent place for visitors to base themselves for explorations of the numerous cultural and recreational attractions within a short drive of town.
     
Los Alamos Population: 12,000
  Los Alamos, best known for the atomic research that occurred here during the 1940s, is still a hotbed of laboratory and scientific work but this 'atomic city' still has much to offer the outdoor recreationalist. Surrounded to the north and east by the Santa Fe National Forest and to the south by the Bandelier National Monument, Los Alamos is a lively community filled with active residents.
     
Santa Fe Population: 120,000
  Santa Fe, the capital of New Mexico, is the quintessential southwestern town for art, culture and history. Dominated by adobe buildings and pueblo style architecture, Santa Fe is home to hundreds of galleries, artisans and museums all of which are heavily influenced by the beauty and immensity of the landscapes which surround town. Located in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and only a short distance from the Jemez & San Juan Mountain Ranges, Santa Fe is situated perfectly for prime recreational opportunity.
     
Socorro Population: 8,800
  Socorro, one of the oldest towns in New Mexico, is located at the junctions of I-25 and NM Highway 60 west and is often bypassed by hurried travelers as a mere pit stop as they speed along I-25 between Albuquerque and Las Cruces. Socorro, however, is within a short drive of some excellent recreational opportunities and interesting attractions that are sure to please most outdoor oriented visitors.
